The developer behind the proposed $158-million, mixed-use project near Cascades Park wants community input on history tied to the site so that stories from the past may be part of the project’s future.

North American Properties formed a community user group made up of historians, community leaders and activists. The group is tasked to help with the area’s storytelling so that it may be etched into a monument design. The public is invited to share their stories of the area during a 6 p.m. June 15 meeting at the Meridian Point building across from Imagination Fountain in Cascades Park.

“Some of our group members say they remember this history,” said Shawn McIntyre, a partner and senior vice president at NAP. “We need to take those memories and turn them into tangible approaches.”
