The Cascades Community Historical User Group – comprised of local educators, preservationists and Civil Rights activists – submitted their vision for how to best honor the history of the site in a large public plaza that will be incorporated into the development. The group worked with NAP’s design team to prepare a narrative design criteria that outlines what should be included in the plaza and will serve as a guide for the designers that ultimately bring the plaza to life. The document incorporates community feedback to ensure the space will reflect the interests and wishes of local residents.
NAP deeply values the time the group invested into this process and announced today that the names of the group members will be featured in the historical plaza as a way to permanently acknowledge their involvement in honoring our history.
The plaza is anticipated to open in late 2020.
