North American Properties is relocating its office operations to the historic Leon County Health Unit building at the edge of its under-construction Cascades Project.
That was always the plan once NAP, the city’s largest commercial developer, wrapped up its 78-unit Assemblage apartment building slated to open Aug. 1. It’s the sixth apartment building for NAP in the Gaines Street area, where the company has built complexes with more than 2,000 beds in 712 units.
On Wednesday, NAP Managing Partner Shawn McIntyre spotlighted efforts to preserve the two-story, 4,600 square-foot Health Unit at Gaines and Gadsden streets. From original pine floors to exposed wood trusses, the renovations are echoes to the past.
