In less than three weeks, the new AC Hotel Tallahassee Universities at the Capitol has already achieved 75% occupancy and more bookings on the horizon.
Eight stories tall, the 154-room hotel opened to the public during Memorial Day weekend.
Curious residents wasted no time flooding social media with selfies and panoramic views from Charlie Park, the hotel’s sleek rooftop lounge with sightlines of Cascades Park never before seen from its vantage point.
The hotel is part of the Cascades Project, a $158-million redevelopment of two city blocks underway for more than two years — the largest redevelopment in downtown Tallahassee’s history.
AC Hotel occupies one block. Millstream at Cascades, the redevelopment site’s luxury apartments, sits next door to the hotel located at 801 S. Gadsden St.
“Customers, guests and locals are very excited about the brand new property and the consensus seems to be the community needed a fresh, new, upscale property with an elegant look and feel,” said Michelle Wilson, area sales executive for Marriott.
